Girlcrush : Meet Fleur

Fleur is Dutch, 18, lives in the Netherlands, recently started modeling ( I predict she's the next big thing!) , enjoys going to music festivals with her friends, has killer personal style and you're just about to get to know her.

-First, how did you get started as a model?
I spend a lot of time on the Dutch Ellegirl forum. There are a lot of scouts there because of the beautiful young girls with model potential . One day somebody asked me if I could send them a few more pictures of myself. And after that they wanted me to come to Amsterdam to the agency.

- What do you dislike most about modeling?
The fake people and the industry can be very harsh to you.

-What do you do the most often : shows, photoshoots??
I do both. I prefer photoshoots though, because they're more creative. You can put your own personality in there most of the time.
But at shows you get a real adrenaline rush and that is also really cool.

-Would you like to pursue modeling for as long as possible or is it just a "side activity"
It wasn't my ambition to be a model, but because it went very well and I got signed with the international agency IMG I decided to start fulltime this year. After that I will definitely do some kind of study, something with fashion, probably styling.

-You really seem to dress "for yourself", not caring about trends and so on. Is it really that way?
Hmmm, I watch the trends, pick the ones I like and then make them fit to my own style and yes I dress for myself but also to make people look a little bit longer :P

-Where do you usually shop? Also, where would you never shop?
I shop everywhere, I like it to combine items from different shops. Back in the days I would wear a whole H&M outfit, but I don't want/like that any more. And I would shop everywhere, it gives me a kick to get a very cool item from I shop I don't really like.

-What is your favorite clothing item ever?
I think just a simple white t-shirt, always looks cool.

-Something you couldn't live without ?
My I-pod, I looooooove music!

-Your last buy? And the next one?
Black gladiator heels, grey ankle boots with silver studs and loafers with an embroidered pattern. And the next one would be a big coat à la Burberry Prorsum.

-What kind of comments do people make about your style?
That my outfits are well styled and that I look like a hippie.

-Favorite fashion designer?
There are sooo many designers I like. I like Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu, Prada, Luella and Burberry most of the time, cool, young and easy to wear. But there are a lot of designers from which I like a certain collection.

-Something you dream about having but can't afford
That Burberry coat again :P

-Most stylish city?
I went to Paris, Copenhagen, Berlin and Antwerp. But I think Paris is the most stylish. In some of the areas ALL people that you see are stylish and well dressed but on the other hand when people look bad dressed they REALLY look bad dressed. I find Copenhagen very refreshing and, Berlin is just very cool, I really feel comfortable there and in Antwerp I know my way very well.

-Something you'd never be caught dead in?
I hate synthetic clothes, clothes with big brandnames on them and everything that makes you look cheap.

-Favorite movie?
Again soo much, I watch a lot of movies. The German movie Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo, Pulp Fiction, Cold Mountain, The Green Mile, The Shawshank Redemption, Candy, Kill Bill and I find 50first dates a very cute comedy. I also like the classic horror movies like Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Oomen.

-What have you been listening to lately?
A lot of Alice in Chains and The Doors. And I think "Into the galaxy" from the Midnight Juggernauts is a very catchy and groovy song.

-What do you do in your free time?
Hang out with my friends, listen to music, going to festivals and concerts, party, do creative stuff, cook, watch movies and that's about it.

An alternative to the usual sun-lit day photos... The night does make it all much cooler and more mysterious ,sort of mesmerizing, doesn't it?

PS : Stay tuned for an interview with my personal girlcrush next week! Her name is Fleur, has golden long locks and to me she could easily be the next Chloé girl. Yop, that's how cool she is. Sneak peek :

Go Gemma!

Chanel's S/S 08 show introduced a "fuller" (ahem) Gemma Ward, looking super hot with her LEGS. I put the emphasis on LEGS, because, those Snejena sticks do not deserve the word "legs". How disgusting does she look? So repulsive. On the other hand, Gemma so attractive.

So, yes, go Gemma. I was so pleased to see a model with sexy, long, shaped legs.
But I was wondering one thing.....If it weren't Gemma, do you think the girl would have walked the show, not considered as "fat"? I'm not sure.
Let's hope she sents a trend....

On anoher note, the Chanel show, was , as always (well at least to me), plain fugly. SOMEONE PLEASE TELL KARL TO STAY AWAY FROM DENIM!
But,,oooh, Irina's dress! It is so dainty and lovely, the perfect retro, tea-party frilly dress.

V.I.P

As fashion week has started, let's take a look to see what stylish bloggers from around the world have been doing lately.... Sitting Front Row , of course!

Lana sat daintily front row at Luella, and fab Fabi (haha had to do that one) worked her cool outfits at 3.1 Philip Lim and Bora Aksu.

Even with all the photographer's attention she grabbed,Teresa enjoyed Proenza Schouler's show, while Audrey could be seen at Chaiken, Carolina Herrera and 3.1 Philip Lim.

Last but not least, Stevie, aka Caroline's daughter and It Girl Julia Restoin Roitfeld was taking notes and happily giggling with french actress Clémence Poésy at Luella, Alexander Wang and New-Zealand's Karen Walker. You could also notice me, striking a pose at shows of Anna Sui and Narciso Rodriguez.

Hope you enjoyed the gorgeous outfits and my super photoshop skills (or lack there of)

My second love : Tennis

(Fashion being the first of course)

So,the lucky me got tickets for Roland Garros and traveled all my way to Paris to see tennis matches, but the unlucky me didn't get to see any of those matches because of the rain. Extreme sadness, isn't it

However I went there last year and got to see tadadaaaaam, the roaring-screaming goddess, its majesty Maria Sharapova (okay so I know she's lost but whatever). Why does she always get to wear beautiful tennis clothes and I don't? Seriously not fair. Her most memorable dress was, as far as I'm concerned, her last year's French Open one, the ballerina pink dress. As soon as I saw it I was under her spell. How lovely did she look in it? I was on the hunt for something similar last year but no way I could find it, anywhere. UUUh OOh UUUH, jealousy.

But this year's dress was also fuck-you-I-want-it-too jealousy inducing. I mean just take a look at it! It looks so high fashion yet sporty. My 2 loves combined in one thing. SIGH

There is absolutly no justice in this world.
If I can't play like a pro, why can't I at least dress like one? Pffffttt

Now let's talk about my other favorite player, Ana Ivanovic. I first started loving her because she was Serbian (patriotism is always a good explanation) , then because she was the cute chubby player, now because she's even more than super pretty, and she GOT TO THE FINALS! I was really suprised and can't wait for the match. I hope she suprises me again. And just look at her. Absolute cuteness/hotness/prettyness/great dress (wow! rhymes!).

GO ANA!

EDIT : PS: Unfortunately, Ana lost...Gaaah so sad. And of course her dress, which I was going to buy, is sold out. Can you say shit?
PPS : Who are your favorite players? If you have one :D

PPPS : Check this out :

Her best asset, other than her killer forehand and serve : her smiiile :D (isn't she adorable?)

So You Want To Be A Model?

Fine. So does everyone. But making it big in Modelland is much harder than you may think. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about (suuure). Being a BYT (Bright Young Thing) comports many rules you absolutely have to follow if you want to be SRF (Sexy Rich and Famous. Okay, I'm done with the stupid shortnings). As, for example, being DDG (Drop Dead Gorgeous. I'm done now, I swear).

Of course, I'll be nice and indulgent and give you the recipe to success ; (Which I of course also happen to follow and that's why you can see me literally everywhere right now like OMG Jeez) or, in this case, you could even say (that's the part where I drop a higly-complicated-nerdy-awesome latin word so your inferior-ness jumps at your face and "lève le voile sur ton ignorance".OKay, some french is good too) the..... cursus honorum. (told you it was awesome)

1. Be tall, skinny and pretty, it'll already make things easier. But if you happen to be short for model-height (A normal height by us, poor normal humans, say 175, is considered short in ModelLand), you gotta have IT to compensate. What It is, nobody actually knows, just like no one knows what there really is in your cheeseburger but whilst nobody knows, everyone keeps saying/eating it. So let's say IT stands for a specific Little something. It might either be an angry Siamese cat face (Sasha) , long bangs that keep going into your eyes and annoying you but you don't care, you got attitude yo (Irina) , a rock'n'roll androgynous vibe with short peroxide blond hair (Agynesss) , having literally 0 grams of fat and being famous for illustrating "When is thin too thin" articles (Snejana), gorgeous big wide set blue eyes contrasting with your long brown hair (Darla Baker) and, the most famous and the best-working, being a bleached anorexic cokewhore (do I really need to drop the name?)

2. The attitude. A model without attitude, is like a Bojana without her red nails. Or, nothing. Assume yourself, strut your stuff down the runway like you're the queen of Oompa-Loompas (which is seriously the greatest privilege of them all), i all your arrogance and beauty. Backstage, be proud of who and what you are. Never look at your feet. Head high. Stand straight. Be a bitch.

3.If you are already tall, there's only one thing left. Be skinny (of course) and pretty. If by any chance you come from the Czech Republic, no problem. But you other lovelies better beware of the Eastern European, the bitches have taken over the modeling world. Yes, indeed, being a long legged beauty with long golden locks just as if you came out of the Sleeping Beauty definitely helps.Oh, and if you have an unpronounceable name the length of your legs, such as Anna Mariya Urazhevskaya, be pretty sure most of the hard work is done. Think Anja,Hana, Tanya and the likes.

4.You got style. Dress to impress. Call it whatever you want, but as a model, working in the fashion industry and not knowing how to dress or having a style of your own is a good ticket to go back where you came from. But have no worries, being surrounded by designers and beautiful clothes will help. Tutus, slut lace tights, vintage, anything is good. But always remember, you have to shine by your presence and wear the clothes, not let them wear you. That's what your job is all about, right?

5.Let's face it, all models smoke, and so must you. Caring about lung cancer, your health? Come on, that cliché is so last year. You're young and pretty, who the hell cares about cancer? That's , like, for old people, right? So do it the most dramatically you can, all the time, always , everywhere. Chainsmoking with your other nicotine-addict gorgeous friends is like so hot right now, plus, it keeps you thin. Besides, Marc Jacobs put it on a sweatshirt in his latest collection, so it can't be that bad, can it?

6.If you're a lucky bitch and have all of the above except, unfortunately a classic beauty, don't worry, freaks are good too. Wide set eyes, alien features, cat similarities, mannish strong jaws, anything works. Sometimes, a unique face is more interesting than a plain pretty one. Do note : unique, yes, ugly, no. Looking like a bind turtle is not considered as unique, so if you do, sorry but NO WAY.

7.Now that you have all you need in your hands to become a supermodel, remember : HAVE FUN!

National Proudness

(Emina Cunmulaj, Marija Vujovic)
Okay, so somebody please tell me how come all the models from Serbia are that gorgeous.
It must be something in the national genes, as in, for the survival of the specie. Or something.
But yet, unfortunately, somehow,(wow, that makes a lot of adverbs!) I managed to find my way not to fall in that skinny, miles-long-legged bunch of girls. Argh!

Hot Stuff : Iekeliene Stange

Seriously, is there anything cuter and happier than Iekeliene (pronunced Eekahleenah for you non ducth-speaking people. Yeah, I'm the hottest polyglott out there) on here? To me she has the most individual, creative style in the models world. Kate Moss?Pfff. Anybody can pull off grey skinny jeans, leggings and ballet flats. But plastic necklaces, polkadotted socks, tutus and bold colors?
Only you baby girl, only you.
lekalina00180m
lekalina 1 00280m
She makes me want to go back to my rainbow-phase more than ever.

But in a more toned down way, aka not wearing two different shoes (Bojana! You're not 13 anymore!Even though I loved the look on the people's faces) but going mad on the accessories, wearing bright colors mixed with calmer, darker colors, and...her signature style, tutus. Even if you do not like her bold style, she may be inspiring, creativity wise. And she just seems to exude some cool happiness and freshness that is just....wonderful. Model talking, I love her dinstinct cheekbones and pale, glowy skin. She is also skinny but not skeleton-skinny. What more could you want?
