Scandinavian Winter

After Russia and babouchkas, Sweden and its northern beauties...who sure know well how to look stylish, feel cozy, and stay warm at the same time. Take a lesson from them!!!

* Bundle up and hide behind big scarves....need I say more? And then layers layers layers. Or, a chic warm coat.

* The ubiquituous highwaist : Rather a summery staple, but still, seems to already be a classic in Sweden!
* Never understimate the power of a hat
Fur (real, faux....to each her own) toques, beanies, béret ,trapper...to help you avoid frozen brain, headaches and ear pain. And give your look the surprise hint it needs! ( okay, these are mainly photos from Face Hunter. Whatever)

I'll leave you with this pretty girl. Old raw used beanies have never looked so good.

Let me hear your балалайкаs

( Title stolen from Visconti is me)
Who are you going to look upon (style-wise , duuh) for this winter?? Chic layers à la Ashley?? Cute and laid back Rachel? Crisp and pulled-together Blair Waldorf (heee)??Bring the up caviar and the vodka, человек ! (which would be russian for "man") and I suggest....matryoshka dolls. Think colorful ethnic prints, Russian rose-printed kitschy scarves, trapper hats, fur fur and more fur to fight the long, snowy winter (which is hélas not my case. See, I'm still wearing my litlle leather jacket without being cold -at all). As for makeup , go all doll-like with rosy cheeks, and a small red pout with long long looong lashes.

For inspiration : visit Prague , or, more affordable, read about the Russian Empire/USSR ( subject of my history exam!) and check Anna Sui's Winter 08 show .

And while you're at it, re-watch Anastasia, my all-time favorite tale and childhoold icon. And learn Russian ! Haha the only thing I know is "Kak tvoja familia" = what's your name , Of course ridiculous as seen it's not written in cyrillic but hey...

(Thank you GrandMa for teaching me the cyrillic alphabet!!)
